Myles' Blessing Weekend

What a fun-filled busy weekend. Therefore there are a ton of pictures...just a warning. It all began on Friday night when Candace held a surprise graduation party for Kevin. One Bachelor's degree and two Master's degrees and he finally thinks he is done with school. So it was a celebration. Candace threw together a great party at Hamilton's. Our whole family was there along with a bunch of Kevin's friends and neighbors. Parker had a basketball Saturday morning so my parents, Jim & Kris and kids and us all headed to the Rec Center to do a little cheering. He did a great job and if I remember right they won their game.
After the game the whole crew minus Candace and the girls all headed out to Newton to do some pheasant hunting. I forgot to mention that on top of planning the Friday night party, Candace sprained her ankle in aerobics and wasn't too mobile. I ended up nursing in the truck pretty much the whole time everyone was hunting, but we got about 16 pheasants in all and had a great time.Lynn shot two pheasants and after a little convincing the kids decided they weren't too bad to carry. It was pretty cute watching them tromp down the road carrying birds almost half their height.
After the hunting, everyone came to our house for sandwiches and visiting. That night we were all exhausted so everyone just kind of did their own thing. After we got the kids in bed, we ordered Chinese and rented "The Brothers Bloom" with Jim and Kris. I ended up falling asleep through quite a bit of the movie, but what I saw was good.
Myles was pretty spoiled the whole weekend and was held pretty much the whole time. Lots of loves.Audrey and Myles
Claire and Myles
The big blessing day has arrived. Our church wasn't until 1:00 so we had plenty of time in the morning to get things ready. Thanks to everyone for all of your help and support. It was a beautiful day and Lynn gave a beautiful blessing. I'm and so lucky to have such a great family. It is amazing how blessed we are.
Grandma got to take a turn feeding the little man.
Myles Willard Dahle ready for the blessing. Isn't he handsome!
Another great thing about this day is that it was the primary program. Both Parker and Madi had parts. Parker said "A father provides for, presides over and protects his family with love. I am thankful for my dad because he protects us." and Madi's part was "I love my family and I want to be with them forever." They both did a great job.
The fam! I've decided it is very difficult to get 3 or more people staring at the same camera at the same time.
The proud parents!
All the Mullen grand kids - Lillian, Audrey, Isabelle, Jaygen, Parker, Myles, Madilyn, James, Briggs, Spencer, Claire and Pace. What a handsome bunch of kids.
The proud grandparents!
Seems a little redneck, but what would a blessing be without a little back hoe ride to transport table and chairs back to Grandma Dahle's house.
Everyone enjoying some delicious food. Thanks again to everyone who helped supply the good treats.
Friday the 6th was the first day we got a good real smile from Myles. I didn't catch it on camera, but we did get the great pouty lip. I love that bottom lip.

The Things Kids Say...

This week Madi has been cracking me up almost constantly. Here are a couple of the things she said. I wish I had them recorded because just writing them doesn't do them justice. Her voice seems to make them funnier. Madi had told me she wanted Mac & Cheese for lunch. When I started fixing it, she said she wanted a Pastrami sandwich instead and said she "I changed all of my minds." In reply I said, "You changed all of your minds, huh?" and she said "Yep, all of them." 11/2/09 On the same day, Myles was sucking his binky pretty hard making smacking sounds and Madi said "He sounds like a clock, smack, smack, smack." Then on November 4th we were at Parker's piano lesson and she came in from outside and said "I touched the bird and its belly was still warm." Apparently there was a dead bird on the porch and she decided to see how it felt. It kind of grosses me out now, but I really can't complain considering I was touching dead birds, deer, fish, worms and more all the time when I was growing up.

Halloween is Finally Here

I know I am way behind considering I should be posting Christmas pictures right now, but please bear with me. I'm getting there. Last Spring Parker declared that he had figured out what they should be for Halloween. He wanted to be Luke Skywalker, Madi needed to be Princess Leia and the baby would be Yoda. It took a little bit of convincing to get Madi to be Leia, but I thought it sounded like a great idea and I immediately started looking for costumes. I bought the Yoda costume for Myles in about June and then decided to make Parker and Madi's costumes. I was determined to get them done before the baby was born, but of course I never accomplished this and ended up doing them about a week before Halloween. Luckily they weren't too difficult and I think they looked great! Halloween was on a Saturday this year, but we still did our annual Trick-or-Treating in downtown Logan with the Johnson's and Candace, Lillian and Isabelle were able to join us this year. There were a ton of people, but the kids still had fun and got plenty of candy. Weston, Lexi, Madi, Garrett, Parker, Porter, Isabelle and Lillian
That evening we went to a few houses in the neighborhood and ate cookies and hot chocolate around the fire at our neighbor's house which has also turned into an annual tradition. Even though I had to do Princess Leia hair about 5 times this week and had to try and get a light saber to stay attached to a belt about 20 times I Still Love Halloween!!

Basketball Begins

Parker decided he wanted to try basketball this year instead of wrestling. Halloween morning was his first game and he did quite well. They played against a tough team so we didn't score a lot of points, but Parker seemed to like it and even ended up with a bloody nose and no tears. Way to go Parker!!
Doesn't their team look tough? :)

Myles 1 Month

I can't believe a month has already gone by. Myles is getting so big already. We are so glad he is a part of our family. He has been a bit of a fussy baby, but I'm thinking it is just reflux. Hopefully we can get something figured out soon.
Ahhhh! The joys of a comfy nap.

Ward Halloween Party

I swear, every year I really need to remember to do easy Halloween costumes considering it seems like the kids have to dress up about 3 days during the week of Halloween for one activity or another. The Thursday before Halloween we had our Ward Fall Festival. The kids had a lot of fun with the activities (i.e. fish pond, cake walk, face painting, donut eating, etc.) and plenty of candy was consumed. Our cute little Yoda.
Beautiful Princess Leia
And of course the determined Luke Skywalker who spent most of the night trying to catch the donut on the string. He finally got one bite and then grabbed the string and ate the rest.

cArvInG PuMPkiNs!

Our annual family night of carving pumpkins was once again a success. The kids had a lot of fun, but as usual, Madi was disgusted by the pumpkins guts. Needless to say I did a lot of scooping and Lynn did a lot of carving, but they turned out great! I can't seem to figure out the lighting on my camera. Either the pictures are too yellow or too dark and when I use the flash the kids eyes are closed so these are the best I could get.
